Columbia, SC – September 30, 2025 – Slim Husky Records is proud to announce the release of “Carolina Home,” the heartfelt new single from multi-talented singer-songwriter Kershaw Spong. Rooted deeply in the traditions of bluegrass, folk, and Americana, “Carolina Home” is a rich, soulful tribute to heritage, memory, and belonging—carried by Spong’s signature sound and story-driven lyrics.

Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, with family ties stretching to Camden, SC and Nashville, TN, Kershaw Spong brings a lifetime of musical experience and deep Southern roots to his latest work. Music has been part of his DNA from the beginning. He fondly recalls his grandmother playing piano at Belmont Methodist Churchin Nashville, and singing live opera on Sunday afternoon radio broadcasts—an early inspiration for his own artistic journey.

A largely self-taught guitarist and harmonica player, Spong has explored a broad musical spectrum, from traditional and pop, to jazz, hymns, and bluegrass. He has played in chapel services, collaborated with folk and pop groups across Columbia, and produced two CDs of hymns and sacred music, as well as three original albums featuring his own compositions.

A committed advocate for traditional music, Kershaw currently serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Bluegrass and Traditional Music Association (SCBTMA). He is passionate about the organization’s mission to preserve and pass on bluegrass heritage to future generations.

“Carolina Home” emerges as a culmination of Kershaw’s years of dedication to authentic storytelling through music. Blending his acoustic sensibilities with heartfelt lyrics, the single reflects on themes of place, identity, and the quiet power of home. Backed by rich instrumentation and emotional depth, it’s a song that resonates with listeners from all walks of life.

Currently, Kershaw continues to perform and record with his ensemble, The Front Porch Boys, a group known for its intimate, down-home sound and vibrant live shows.
